Lavender country with vultures

A day out (click to enlarge) in Massif des Baronnies (Drôme Provençale) : lavender fields and medieval villages overlooking the stunning panoramas (Le Poët-Sigillat) or nestled in the valley of the river Eygues (Rémuzat)... and the famous Rocher du Caire, home to several species of vulture if you're lucky enough to watch them glide along the cliff above Rémuzat.
It's hot, 38°C, and the sun dazzling. The neverending shrill, piercing notes of the cicadas persist while butterflies and other insects flit around in the lavender, and at the top of the cliff, the vultures majestuously swing and sweep above and below us.
